“The Joe Show”: Retrospective Exhibition on Artist Joseph LaPierre's Work and Life
Ready2HangArt Gallery + Creative Space located in Downtown Abacoa in Jupiter, Fla.,
will be showcasing a Retrospective Exhibition featuring locally renowned Artist
Joseph LaPierre (American, 1945-2009).

The opening reception of "The Joe Show" will be held February 22nd from 6-8pm,
with the Exhibition running through the month of March.

"The Joe Show" will feature a collection of paintings never before seen by the public. They are the last works in the estate, and will be available for private acquisition. Along with remaining original paintings, this retrospective exhibition will focus on LaPierre’s life as an artist, musician and family man. Family photos and items like the bicycle he often featured in his paintings, as well as guitars that he built and painted will be on display.

Though many of his early paintings were done with brush, Joseph discovered that his creative passion was painting with the palette knife. His textured style became very popular and easily recognizable.

“I often say that I paint with a palette knife because I don't like to wash brushes, but actually I enjoy using the knife because of the texture and style it lends itself to developing,” said LaPierre in 2009. “I use heavy body Golden acrylics, and the thicknesses and textures work well together in my paintings, which are visually loose, yet often quite detailed at the same time.”

The Retrospective Exhibition of this coveted man would not be made possible without the generous collaborative efforts of Joe's family, Melody, Sarah and Jesse LaPierre.

“After I moved to Florida, I started painting for myself and creating works to sell at art festivals and put in galleries and it developed into a full-time career as opposed to a hobby career,” said LaPierre during an interview in 2009. “I feel blessed that I can provide for my family while doing something that I thoroughly enjoy.”
