Denis Budkov was born and lives in Kamchatka, the volcanic peninsula in Russia's far east, and his work is devoted almost entirely to its extraordinary wilderness. His images follow brown bears fishing for migrating salmon, mountain rivers running to the Pacific, and the steaming breath of the land itself.

An award-winning nature photographer, Budkov has been a finalist and prize-winner in international competitions including BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year, GDT, Montphoto and HIPA, his pictures carrying the raw immediacy of a landscape few ever witness.
